Church Ministry

Youth Ministries

Raising a Spirit-filled generation grounded in Scripture, identity, holiness, leadership and mission.

Our Mandate

Why this ministry exists

Youth Ministries exists to disciple adolescents and young adults during a decisive stage of life. Its mandate is to help young people know Christ personally, understand their identity and calling, build strong biblical convictions, develop leadership capacity, form healthy relationships and participate actively in the mission of the church.

Biblical anchors: Ecclesiastes 12:11 Timothy 4:12Joel 2:28
Core Responsibilities

What the ministry is called to do

These responsibilities translate the mandate into consistent ministry practice, planning and accountability.

Provide regular Bible study, prayer, worship and discipleship gatherings.

Create mentoring and leadership-development pathways for young people.

Address real-life issues with biblical clarity and pastoral sensitivity.

Use music, arts, media, sport and other appropriate platforms for engagement and witness.

Mobilise youth for evangelism, missions, service projects and church responsibilities.

Prepare young people for transitions into higher education, work, marriage and adult ministry.

Local Church Expression

How this works in practice

Youth ministry should be integrated into the life of the local assembly rather than operating as an isolated programme. Young people should worship with the wider church, serve in meaningful roles, learn from mature believers and also have dedicated spaces where their specific questions and needs can be addressed.

Activities should be planned, budgeted, reported and evaluated within the appropriate AfAN leadership structure, with programmes remaining consistent with the church’s doctrine, vision, mission and policies.

Desired Outcomes

What healthy ministry should produce

  • Young people grow in spiritual maturity and biblical conviction.
  • Youth leaders and emerging ministers are identified and developed.
  • Young people remain actively connected to the church through major life transitions.
  • A mission-minded generation serves Christ in church and society.
