A Division is a major administrative area within a National Church, made up of several Districts. Its purpose is to coordinate district work, strengthen pastoral and administrative oversight, and ensure that national direction is implemented effectively across a wider region.
The Division functions through a Division Executive Committee that brings together the Division's administrative leadership, District Directors and relevant heads of ministry.
The Division receives direction from national leadership, coordinates the districts within its area, and reports significant ministry, administrative and governance matters upward.
Coordinate activities, programmes and ministry priorities of District Assemblies across the Division.
Receive district programmes, development projects and budgets and align them with wider church priorities.
Support ministerial discipline, accountability, placements and transfers within the Division according to AfAN procedures.
Serve as an appellate level for appropriate matters coming from District Assemblies and address serious district governance issues.
Receive and confirm qualifying ministerial recommendations and forward ordination matters to national leadership as prescribed.
Strengthen district capacity, encourage church growth and coordinate regional initiatives that are more effective when carried out together.
A healthy Division makes national strategy practical. It gives District leaders access to supervision, shared planning, accountability, ministerial support and regional coordination without removing the responsibility of Districts to lead their own areas effectively.
